Computer Science department of Shahid Beheshti University started its activity and student admission in bachelor’s degree in 1999 and developed its activities by admitting master’s degree students in 2006. In 2014 Ph.D. students were also admitted in computer science and bio-informatics majors. In 2016, the department’s name was changed to Department of Computer and data sciences relative to the role specified by university. At the moment there are eight full time members of board of education in different specialized majors including two professors, one associate professor and five assistant professors. Now, the department has 150 bachelors’ students, 50 M.Sc.s’ students, 20 Ph.D.’s students and two postdoctoral researchers.

At the moment, department has two active field of study for M.Sc.’s level (1-Data Mining 2-Algorithms and Theory of Computation), and it also has the field of Artificial Intelligent and soft computing in Ph.D.’s level.
